General Discussion / Re: Train stopped in block
« Last post by DPump on March 08, 2022, 06:43:06 AM »
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers...

There are three possibilities to get into a stuck situation with no apparent way to get out: either it is the dispatchers fault, a problem in the schedule, or a problem in the software.

For this territory, you should be able to get any train out of B583 (between BL and BK) after a scheduled stop has completed. It may be tricky though if you have too much traffic or if a misroute happened.

To analyze it further, we would need at least a list of trains (schedules) involved in this. Better yet, if you run the standard or premium version of the territory, you can save the game state, and send the saved file to customer service. and we can try to determine what the situation is - and how to get out of it.

General Discussion / Train stopped in block
« Last post by tomwhite56 on March 04, 2022, 08:30:09 PM »
So this is no doubt going to seem like a stupid question.  I'm good at those.
On the BNSF Stockton Fresno etc. territory, a train travels from the beginning of the route at A2 all the way to the end, at BA, and goes out to to BL, heading for Bakersfield, and never moves after that.  Meanwhile the dispatcher on Bakersfield wants me to open an entry point on a block that is perpetually occupied.  I tell the train to go ahead at normal speed, back up, whatever, and it just sits there.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.  Can someone help?

Thank you!

CTC Announcements / New Territories
« Last post by DPump on January 07, 2022, 08:12:14 AM »
There are 2 new territories and one update available:
  • USA Conrail Dearborn Elkhart IN - Toledo OH 1997 (Toledo West - New)
  • USA Conrail Dearborn Porter IN - Elkhart IN 1997 (Chicago East - New)
  • USA Conrail Dearborn Chicago IL - Porter IN 1997 (Chicago West - Update)
These 3 territories are also available in the wide format, where the scenery is designed to be shown on two monitors side-by-side, for those of you who have them (makes it feel really professional).

All of them were designed and updated by fellow dispatcher James Perva. Thank you, James, for your contribution!

We have built packages for each of these territory pairs: they contain both the regular and the wide version for a lower price (than when bought individually).

You can download these or any other territories at https://ctc.webrailroader.com/download-page/

For detailed information about packages see https://ctc.webrailroader.com/packages/

Enjoy the game!

General Discussion / Re: Newbie question

Maybe in the future we may come up with a solution to provide immediate gratification, but for now it is a manual process involving activities which cannot be done on the internet alone. I believe it is mentioned somewhere - but can't find it now - that codes will be available within 24 hours. Except when our access to the internet is disabled due to hurricanes, power outages and the like.

General Discussion / Newbie question

Hi Guys

I have downloaded CTC and purchased a primary license along with Conrail Chicago. However, when I open the CTC Products within the Sim, under purchase status it reads 'In Progress'.

Am I doing something wrong or am I waiting on a manual action from someone in CTC?

Many thanks in advance.

CTC Bug Reports / Re: Phone not working

This issue has been resolved via Email communication, but for the benefit of the general audience the resolution will be posted here.

Since CTC Release 5.4 the last window position of the phone conversation will be saved in the user's profile. The next time you want to use the phone, the window will be placed right there where it was located before. So it is possible you don't remember it, it may be mostly out of the desktop area, obscured, or just maybe on the other monitor if you run a dual-monitor system. It is also possible to minimize the window (like you do a layman's do-not-disturb by placing the handset next to the base in real life). In all these cases you can see the CTC phone window represented in the taskbar.

There is a general window's procedure to restore and move the window with just the keyboard.

Select the window using alt-tab or from the taskbar, make it non-minimized if it is minimized (move your cursor to a small pic that will appear just above the CTC phone entry in the taskbar). With the window now active, press alt+space and then "m". Use the cursor keys to move it around - you should see it eventually. Press Enter to settle.

This works for any window, not just for CTC. And yes, you can google it for further details.

CTC Suggestions / Re: Indicator boxes for switches and signals
« Last post by westdetroit on September 12, 2021, 07:24:39 PM »
Yes with the exception that boxes would appear around over switches locked by a lined route as well. Currently there's a bar like symbol over switches locked by a route.
